Looking Forward to April, May, and June with KPC
“Tell me more.”
All of us have had that most awkward moment when we didn’t know what to say or how to respond to the conversation in front of us. This can happen in personal conversations, but for us communicators, it is only a matter of time before this happens in a professional setting as well.
“Tell me more” has been my go-to phrase for years. It took me a while, and I am still not perfect at it, but listening first has never failed me. Not only does it give the other person the assurance that you are, in fact, listening, but it gives you more context to the situation and more time to respond with a thoughtful answer or follow-up question.
Over the course of the next three months, KPC will take a deep dive into different facets of interpersonal communications. We will use our past experiences to emphasize the importance of listening and responding with intentional and meaningful communications.
Here’s what you can expect for the next three Christ, Coffee, and Communications meetings, held the first Friday of every month:
April will share our best practices with regards to onboarding and coaching parish/school communication directors and teams to equip them for long-term success in their roles.
May will focus on the importance of effective interpersonal and social communications in an apostolic landscape. We will share material presented by our team at a training workshop we led for Theology seminarians at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis earlier this year.
June will give you our best tips and tricks for navigating a crisis. How we communicate internally as a team will set the tone for how we communicate externally. Building an internal culture and planning ahead will make any crisis situations more manageable.
These past few months we have been hosting our Christ, Coffee, and Communications webinars and they have been a great source of collaboration and innovation amongst communicators and colleagues across the country. More and more, spaces for dialogue and problem solving are becoming valuable and critical opportunities for accompaniment. As the need for formation and expertise in this sphere increases, we look forward to navigating through almost any communications transition, conversation, or crisis with you in the coming months.
See you soon!
