Engaging Hearts Through Seasonal Campaigns: Our Previous Christ, Coffee and Communications Webinar
The weeks of Advent and Christmas are often hectic—but they’re also a unique opportunity to draw people closer to the heart of the season: Christ. Seasonal campaigns shine a light on the good already happening in our communities, invite meaningful participation, and open doors for people to encounter Jesus in real, tangible ways.
At last month’s Christ, Coffee, and Communications, we talked about how social media can highlight parish successes during capital campaigns. Seasonal campaigns take this even further: they celebrate what God is doing right now, invite people to join in, and help them experience the vitality of parish life for themselves.
Five Steps to Running a Seasonal Campaign
1. Define your purpose and theme.
Prayerfully discern a short, liturgical or seasonal theme that invites others in and nourishes your community. Make sure it matches your parish’s unique charism and points toward your final Call to Action (CTA).
2. Plan consistent daily content.
Premake posts to ensure cohesion and easy implementation. For Advent, consider daily posts for spiritual nourishment. For Lent, try weekly themes (prayer, fasting, almsgiving) with bonus Stories or Reels. For shorter campaigns like Thanksgiving, focus on a series such as 12 Days of Gratitude.
3. Choose meaningful entry points.
Use campaign content to drive deeper engagement, both online and in person. Highlight parish events like Advent by Candlelight, service opportunities, or special liturgies—and challenge people to bring a friend. Have these events naturally feed into your CTA, so participation flows into deeper involvement.
4. Share stories and invite participation.
Highlight real testimonies and hands-on involvement that show how the campaign—and parish life itself—is impacting people. Stories often inspire more deeply than announcements ever could. Whatever your CTA is—such as joining a Bible study—include stories of people’s amazing experiences with it.
5. Follow up and sustain momentum.
Close the campaign with gratitude and connect participants to next steps in parish life. End with one clear CTA—whether that’s faith-sharing groups, a retreat offering, or service sign-ups—and invite participants deeper through personal follow-up. After, take time to review your analytics: what posts, emails, or formats resonated most? These insights will help shape even stronger campaigns in the future.
An Invitation to Community
By engaging hearts, telling stories, and nurturing community, we can help others encounter the joy and hope of Christ in meaningful, lasting ways. This season, may we invite our community members deeper and welcome home those who are new.
